1/2/18 Evening Meeting You and Me and other Important People
Although we still have a scheduled meeting we don't have formal, formal program. This is just us and
our friends and families and guests having an opportunity to get to know who we are as Rotarians. It also
keeps involved those members who find Noon meetings challenging to attend.
This meeting is still held at Lalo's Restaurant.
1/16/17 Who are those with no where to go? Homelessness Census Count Greg Messer
We've all seen them. The people who carry their life in backpacks and bags. You can turn your head but
they still have an impact on us. Have you ever wondered how the homeless become the homeless? Have
you ever wondered just how many homeless there are among us and what kind of effect they have on
our communities?
During the week of 1/22 - 1/26/2018 Siskiyou County will be participating in a statewide census to identify
homeless individuals and families. We will be gathering counts and personal information that includes
both personal and personal history. The collected data will be entered into the Homeless Management
Information System (HMIS). The data will in turn be used to acquire funding to provide many services that
will help solve shelter, employment, and behavioral health conditions and other causes of homelessness.
This should be an eye opener for most of us. Bring a friend. Held at Mt Shasta Resort
1/23/17 Friends of the Mt Shasta Avalanche Center Held at Mt Shasta Resort
What a surprise. This program is postponed for a while. Seems that when the US Government is shut down,
Federal departments are not allowed to do outside programs.
2/13/17 The State of our Community Kathy Morter, Mayor
Out with the old, in with the new. Rotarian and Mt Shasta Mayor Kathy Morter will give us an overview
of Mt Shasta City. She'll cover the good things that happened last year, the current topics for consideration,
and perhaps some goals for this coming year. No decisions will be made at our meeting but there will be
time for questions to be asked as we increase our understanding of our city government.
2/20/17 The First Annual Siskiyou Science Festival. Jean Nels/Renee Casterline
Mt Shasta Rotary has already stepped up to help sponsor the Siskiyou Science Festival. Find out what's
happening. Discover the unique mix of ideas about how to bring the Science Festival to our community and
how to bring the community to the Science Festival. This is the kind of project that helps make Mt Shasta
Mt Shasta. Bring a friend. Lalo's

4/10/2018 Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. Kathy Suvia
Like many things child abuse shows up in many ways. It could be a spanking or a slap on the face. It could
be a closed fist beating. It could be a sudden and hard shaking. It could be being slammed into a wall or
being pushed down the stairs. It could be sexual molestation. It could be verbal, mental, or emotional.
Or, it could be neglect, being left alone without parental guidance or protection.
Find out what's happening, what's not happening, and more importantly let's see what's needed and
wanted to protect the children.
4/17/2018 "How Being a Part of HIstory Turned Into a Memoir" Angelica Pilato, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), Ph.D
A Woman's Love, Laughter, and Loss during the Vietnam War
Lt Col Angelica Pilato takes you back to the Sixties, one of the most turbulent times in modern history.
An unpopular war is raging, students are protesting, black neighborhoods are on fire, and women are
demanding equality. Angle tells how these events affected her and her decision to join the Air Force.
As the first woman Air Force officer assigned to manage an Officers; Club and the first to run one on a
fighter base in South Asia, she gives a unique perspective of the war.

The Mt Shasta Rotary Club is proud to recognize and support the outstanding Students from Mt Shasta
High School and Sisson Middle School. As Art Linkletter used to say, "Kids say the darnedess things."
Although all of the Students have an opportunity to talk about their school, their life, and their future, each
Student's presentation is uniquely their own. By observing them in present time we get a glimpse of the future.

5/15/18 The Veterans Assistants Program Jay Dancer, Past President
The Veterans Assistants Program are exactly that...Assistants who support Veterans. Jay Dancer will provide us
with an understanding of the total scope of assistance that's provided by the Program, who they help, how they
help, and what the future looks like for Veterans in Siskiyou County.
5/22/18 The California Highway Patrol. Kyle C. Foster, Lieutenant Commander,
Lieutenant Commander Kyle Foster would like to provide us with an overview of the Mt. Shasta CHP office, the
programs and services they provide in our community, and the community partnerships they are looking to establish.
This may provide us with new possibilities since we nearly always are interested in helping other organizations to
make a positive impact on our community..
