Library Building and Improvements
The Mount Shasta Rotary Club was instrumental in the building and fund raising for the construction and the 1989 expansion of the Mount Shasta Library. The Club contributed $50,000 with the community at large contributing another $25,000 and a grant provided an additional $75,000. We have painted the library building as well as provided new windows and new computers.
Sisson Meadow Trail
The Sisson Meadow Trail is a ¼ mile paved multiuse trail extending between Alma and Lake Streets along the upper edge of a 7 acre protected meadow in the heart of Mount Shasta. The trail provides linkages between the Mount Shasta Library, Sisson Elementary School and city owned ball fields. It is the Clubs Rotary International Centennial Project. Lake Siskiyou Trail
We assisted in the clearing and completion of a trail that encircles Lake Siskiyou. The trail is approximately 7 miles long and can be accessed from several points around the lake.
Nepenthe Walking Trail
We supported and assisted in the creation of a unique, wheelchair accessible “healing path” that winds through the Mercy Mount Shasta Hospital grounds. It includes streams and ponds, picnic tables and benches. It provides a peaceful place for reflection, prayer and meditation. It is also a great place to exercise, bird-watch, sketch, and take photos.
Downtown-to City Park Trail
The Downtown-to-City Park Trail is a multi-year community partnership project in which the Mount Shasta Rotary Club is playing a major role. The trail will be one mile in length, extending between the City Park and downtown.
Disabled Sports
We provide assistance to the Shasta Disabled Sports Program. This is a local program that has been organized to provide recreational opportunities for disabled people in the Siskiyou County area. This program grew out of the club’s sponsorship of an annual rafting trip for disabled people and caretakers on the Klamath River. The club also sponsored a Rotary District Simplified Grant to purchase adaptive ski equipment for the program and have participated in ski days assisting disabled individuals to enjoy a day at the Mount Shasta Ski Park.
Beatification Projects
We have helped clean up and install welcome signage at both the north and south entrances to Mount Shasta.

Student of the Month
Student of the Month gives recognition monthly from September to May of each year to a male and female high school senior and a 7th or 8th grade student. The award is given to students that exemplify; academic excellence, service to their school and community, leadership, sportsmanship and service to their fellow students. These awards are presented at the Rotary luncheon meeting on the last Tuesday of each month.
Dictionary handouts to 3rd graders.
Each year, in recognition of the importance of literacy and education, Mount Shasta Rotarians purchase and deliver dictionaries to third graders in Mount Shasta and McCloud.
Mount Shasta Rotary Club Scholarship Program

The scholarship award was $250.00 per recipient in 1963 and has grown to $1,500.00 per recipient. The Club has awarded over $77,000.00 as of June 2011. Over the years the fundraising exceeded the annual scholarship awards. Through the efforts of our Scholarship committee the Scholarship Program was fully endowed in October of 2006. The endowment is called the Mount Shasta Rotary “Gino Marconi” Scholarship Endowment. Gino was a Charter member of the Club and served as Treasurer for over 40 years. The Mount Shasta Rotary Club has established the Mount Shasta Rotary Club Foundation which is responsible for the Scholarship Endowment. Click here for information about applying for scholarships.
